Costa dos Coqueiros
The coconut coast

The coast north of Salvador offers a long stretch of beautiful beaches, all the way to Mangue Seco near the state border of Sergipe and Bahía. This is where the famous "Estrada do Coco" and "Linha Verde" lead you north, and you can access many beautiful beaches, such as Arempebe, Itacimirim, Praia do Forte and Costa Sauípe.
Praia do Forte and Costa Sauípe are the most famous areas on this stretch of coast, as they offer a modern infrastructure with international hotels and some of the best golf courses in Brazil. The Iberostar Praia do Forte Golf Club is set in beautiful surroundings, and the Costa do Sauipe Golf Links are equally impressive.

Salvador was founded in 1549 and was the first capital of Brazil. The city remained the most important city in the country for almost three hundred years. Due to its rich history, the city has a fascinating architectural heritage, with over 800 preserved historic buildings, and is today on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The most famous area in the historic center is Pelourinho, which has the highest concentration of historic buildings. Pelourinho is a place that just has to be visited by everyone who is on holiday in Bahía.
Salvador is the most African city in the world outside the African continent. Due to its deep Afro-Brazilian roots, where 80% of the population are descendants of Africans, the city houses some of the most amazing music in Brazil. Tourists who come here will experience incredible drum beats and fantastic music, open-air concerts and lots of dancing. The state capital is a very unique place, and it undoubtedly gives everyone who goes there a good reason to smile and feel good.

Bay of All

Bahia

Baía de Todos os Santos with its 56 islands is the largest bay in Brazil and is also considered the largest tropical bay in the world. Many of those who love nautical sports come here, and many nautical events are held in the bay throughout the year. Several international sailing competitions are also held every year in Baía de Todos os Santos because the place is so well suited for sailing. The bay's largest island is the beautiful Ilha de Itaparica.
Costa do Dendê
Palm Coast

The coast south of the state capital, Costa do Dendê, includes the famous paradise islands of Morro de São Paulo and Boipeba. Morro de São Paulo attracts tourists from many different countries, and the island has a great tourist infrastructure and beautiful beaches. No cars are allowed here, which gives the place even more charm. There are plenty of accommodation and restaurants here, and there is a lively nightlife.
The Peninsula de Maraú, with famous beaches such as Barra Grande and Taipús de Fora, offers really beautiful beaches and great snorkeling in crystal clear water protected by a reef.
Costa do Cacau
Cocoa Coast

On this part of the Bahía coast we find Ilhéus, Itacaré and Canavieiras. Ilhéus was in the old days an important cocoa port and offers exciting architecture. The impressive beach town of Itacaré is internationally renowned and is one of the few areas in northeastern Brazil where the original Atlantic rainforest still exists along the coast. Itacaré is a sophisticated and charming beach destination with many tropical and beautiful beaches, luxurious accommodation and great restaurants. Itacaré is famous for its great surfing conditions and is also known for being among the country's best rafting.
Canavieiras further south, with its impressive beaches, is known for offering some of the best fishing opportunities for blue marlin swordfish in Brazil and attracts enthusiastic anglers from around the world.
Coast of Discovery
The discovery coast

As the name implies "Coast of Discovery", this is the coastline Cabral is said to have come to when he discovered Brazil. One can see a historical monument that marks Portugal's possession of the newly discovered land in Porto Seguro, which was the place where the Portuguese first went ashore.
With both national and international fame, Arraial D'Ajuda and Trancoso are two famous and very charming coastal towns just south of Porto Seguro. Both offer a high degree of sophistication, great infrastructure, delicious food and some incredibly beautiful beaches. The famous Terra Vista Golf Course is located in the Trancoso area.
A little further south along the Bahia's discovery coast you will find the beautiful beach towns
Caraíva and Cumuruxatiba.
Costa das Baleias
The Whale Coast

Clear water and beautiful coral reefs can be found on this stretch of the coast of Bahía. The beautiful Abrolhos archipelago is located 67 km off the coast and offers some of the country's best diving. Humpback whales have chosen the Parque Nacional Marinho de Abrolhos as a mating area, and you can go on a whale safari in the area. Other destinations on the "whale coast" are Prado, Alcobaça, Caravelas and Mucurí.
Chapada Diamantina
National Park

Chapada Diamantina is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the interior of Brazil. This fantastic national park spreads over 152,000 hectares, offers fantastic nature and is visited by tourists from all over the world. In Chapada Diamantina you will find beautiful gorges, waterfalls, rivers and caves. The place is perfect if you like hiking, cycling and activities that make your adrenaline pump, such as bungee jumping and rappelling.
