Morro de Sao Paulo is located 60 km south of Salvador, the capital of Bahia. It is part of an archipelago of 26 islands, only three of which are inhabited.
The island has been recognized by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve and as a World Heritage Site. Thanks to its unique nature, the island is part of the environmentally protected area of the islands of Tinharé and Boipeba.
